“How can a toy help us in our work?” was what we were all wondering before we embarked on the training… And we came out enlightened, inspired and eager to take action on what we learnt!”
Sun Ho, Founder, Little Lives
Toys and workplaces don’t usually go together in people’s minds. In our bite-sized workshop called “Playdate: Communication and Collaboration”, participants revel in experiencing this link. This offering for time-strapped organisations involves a blindfolded game experience with an award-winning toy, which is a learning innovation used with CEOs, human resource professionals, employees, educators and students. Below is more feedback from participants:
“I became enlightened from the experience.” wrote a CEO from Korea who experienced our work at an international conference. Another CEO confessed that he under-estimated the game as he was sure he could do the puzzle.
“When we understand the situation through the eyes of our teammates, our users, our clients and in turn express ourselves to be understood, we come up with solutions that work.” wrote a staff member who works in a client-facing organisation.
“When learning is fun, it increases the receptiveness and also retention of the experience.” – Participant
Why this session works well:
- Experts have found that play-based learning enhances creativity, promotes more learning, improves problem-solving and boosts emotional wellbeing. This session brings fun and lightness to the workplace. We’ve never had a session where people weren’t laughing and enjoying themselves.
- Valuable debriefs – However this experience doesn’t stop at fun. The insights that participants share are deep. We ensure that debriefs after the game allow workplace-related learning.
- Experts have found that hands-on learning improves retention, enhances understanding and engages people. We’ve noticed participants become fully present and focused.
- The session is brief enough yet provides high value. A follow-up can be added on so that we can hold space for a team which may want to practise what they learned.
I love the very high energy of the participants during this game! I enjoy witnessing what emerges during the struggles of solving the puzzle and when the participants have their revelation moments during the debriefs. It’s very fulfilling when they are surprised to see the application of this experience to their workplace.
