Expat Living Interview

This interview with Vadivu first appeared in Expat Living, Sept’24 : Want to Live More Meaningfully?

Inner Wealth isn’t only your organisation’s name; for you, it’s a new perspective on wealth.

Yes! “Wealth” comes from the old English word “weal” which means wellbeing. Inner wealth is about nurturing a deeper connection with ourselves, others and life through five pathways – be, love, serve, grow and play. It generates collective wellbeing and transformation for a more enlightened society.

Who is your Inner Billionaire Legacy programme for and what are its benefits?

This personal transformation programme is for those who seek a more meaningful, fulfilling and deeper life. They may have attained material success but still feel something important is missing, whether that’s a lack of higher purpose and meaningful contribution, or they may experience emotional detachment and superficial relationships. They may struggle to act compassionately or feel that they may not be true to themselves. Inner peace and freedom may also be missing.

The goal is to awaken the truest, highest expression of themselves and enable them to make a meaningful impact on others.

What’s unique about this bespoke programme?

It supports your deeper transformation for collective wellbeing, not only personal wellbeing. If you combine your financial or positional power with inner wealth, this ripples out powerfully and creates positive change in the lives you touch through your example and decisions at home, work and beyond.

The programme also incorporates work with the subconscious mind, helping to address deep-rooted issues more effectively. As Stanford neuroscientist, Dr James Doty shares in his book Mind Magic: “Negative beliefs developed during our childhood are often carried subconsciously into adulthood…

Our multi-disciplinary programming team includes experts like Kartika Alexandra, an internationally recognised integrative hypnotherapist and trauma specialist who has worked with Olympians and executives.

Can you tell us a bit about your personal learning journey?

I learn continually from life and formal education. I’m trained in topics such as the Science of Happiness at Work, team psychological safety and positive psychology coaching. After my Masters at Columbia University, an extraordinary educator there, Barbara Becker, inspired me to do a transformational experiment to live as if I had a year left to live. Such experiences inspire my perspective on life and my work.

The reverse of your business card has an interesting question. Tell us about it.

It says: “If you had a year to live, how would you be, love, serve, grow, play?” We offer this as a reflection prompt. When we remember that time on earth is finite, what truly matters shines. Experts such as the late psychiatrist Dr Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, who journeyed with people near their life’s end, have reminded us of what’s important – that we are here to grow, to love unconditionally and to be of service to others.

What are three ways to unlock inner wealth?

#1 Celebrate and grow. Looking at the five inner wealth pathways – be, love, serve, grow and play – acknowledge your strengths and be honest about areas where you can improve for your benefit and others.

#2 Connect meaningfully. Build deep relationships where you feel safe to be vulnerable and authentic, and experience mutual support for inner transformation.

#3 Serve joyfully. Show appreciation, kindness, and compassion. By staying attentive, you’ll notice many opportunities around you.
