I love the energy I sense from people whose work is their Calling. It’s special and full of Love, passion and vitality.
Mei-Lan Maurits is a musician with a mission. She sounds like an angel to me and she’s one of the people I listen to while I work.
She has many videos in which there are more beautiful sets but I love this unvarnished, simple one. Pause reading further and watch it if you like.
What does it do to your heart? What draws you in their interaction?
I love how she moves and smiles with natural, unbridled, uninhibited joy. This is what happens when our work lights us up from within. People – our colleagues, customers, others – can catch this spirit just by being around us. It is a gift to them.
I love the connection between her and Ali – how they are facing each other with so much enlivening connection flowing through them. Each has their own way of being – he closes his eyes more, she keeps hers open. Each revels in each other’s gift. Each is in their own zone of magic, connecting to their high gift and then harmonising at a whole new level of magic. People can FEEL this dynamic when we have such chemistry with someone we work/serve with and it shows the world what is possible when two or more human beings are in tune with their gifts, higher purpose and each other.
I love how vulnerable and open she is on her website about her own struggles with self-worth, her shyness and how she started living her purpose to bring soul healing through her music.

Reflection
- There’s a quote on going to our graves with our song unsung. What’s your unique song? Made up of your unique constellation of gifts, sacred wounds turned into wisdom and life-story. It’s a journey within and outward to discover this.
- When are you in your magic zone like Mei-lan? If you only catch a glimpse of when you do step into this zone, notice it, celebrate it and where possible, nurture it.
- As you notice the dynamic between Mei-lan and Ali, quietly sense this within: With whom do you feel this kind of chemistry, harmony and flow at work for a higher purpose? How can you open up space to step into this dynamic more? Sometimes such connections can slip into the busyness of the days. Be vigilant to what is precious, and grow it.
