DAPHNE YUAN

Consultant, Facilitator, Wellbeing Amplifier

I discovered my personal alignment to servant leadership when I was in the public service. Even though I joined with the purpose of shaping public policies, I also found my calling in serving the people around me. I was purposeful in the way I looked out for my colleagues’ workplace wellbeing, morale, personal growth and leadership development. I truly believe that an organisation is only as effective as its people are well; and the people are only as well as their leaders are well.

Being a consultant and facilitator with Inner Wealth, my work is rooted in research studies and the evidence-based PERMAH wellbeing framework. I derive deep meaning from being able to continue serving organisations that desire to care for the wellbeing of their people. This same desire led me to serve as a member of the school management committee at the Mountbatten Vocational School (for youths with disability), where my main contributions revolve around caring for the staff’s wellbeing.

The issues and solutions that clients bring to us are never straightforward, and need sensitivity to let the truth emerge. I value being able to work with clients who trust us with a journey of discovery involving in-depth interviews and surveys, and have the courage to go deep for sustainable solutions. While our recommendations may cover people-centred workplace policies or encouraging a positive workplace culture, I appreciate that we also support leaders who are open to doing their own inner work so as to better serve their organisation.

My move from a public servant to becoming a consultant and facilitator was a natural one as it taps on my inherent strengths in guiding conversations, identifying collective interests and holding space. I serve with my whole self as I demonstrate vulnerability so that the participants may be comfortable with it.

My approach to facilitation encourages people to connect with themselves and others more deeply. Creating safe spaces through my empathy, love and acceptance of the people I am with is my goal. If my presence has a healing effect, my work is complete.
