GROW GOODNESS
Nurturing the People in Nonprofits for Greater Impact
For those in Philanthropy
The suffering in our world is immense.
And the ability to make a difference in a thoughtful way is also immense.
Do you want a more meaningful way to support nonprofits for deeper, more sustainable impact?
Do you want to play a more visionary role and be part of changing paradigms?
Do you want to support the wise and just flow of financial resources?
Nonprofits working for a better world face many challenges:
- Issues they work on may be tremendously complex
- Staff may be emotionally affected when exposed regularly to others’ pain, or lack of compassion or justice
- Staff may have high workloads with severe resource constraints
- There may be issues of high turnover
- When faced with so many challenges, it may be hard to come up with much needed fresh, deeper, innovative solutions
And yet…
- They may not get enough support for the growth and wellbeing of their leaders and staff. Some donors may want their funds to go only or mainly to the mission and beneficiaries directly.
- Nonprofit leaders may struggle with prioritising this over pressing matters, especially with a limited budget.
- Staff may be encouraged to practise self-care strategies when the roots of their struggles may be born out of leadership struggles and organisational culture.
There is significant research showing that investing in people’s growth, wellbeing, relationships and work culture has an impact on the work. Corporations with huge budgets know this and invest alot in this direction. Yet many non-profits may not have equal access to such services.
We want to disrupt this pattern with you.
We all hold different pieces of the puzzle and could come together to create something new.
We believe one of the ways to make the deepest social impact is to strengthen the inner capacity of nonprofits through the people in them.
We also believe that people working in nonprofits are worthy of investments in their growth and wellbeing and that this itself is part of creating social impact.
Create positive ripples…
The kind of approaches we use can ripple out to touch the many lives non-profits touch.
Thirty healthcare organisations which used positive leadership saw double-digit improvement in climate, manager support, participation, patient satisfaction, physician/nurse relations, quality of care, resource adequacy and willing to recommend. (Cameron, Mora, Leutscher, and Calarco, 2011)
Significant correlation between servant leadership style and employee retention and the most influencing factors were trustworthiness, service, kindness and humility. (Veiseh and Veisi in Indian Journal of Fundamental and Applied Life Sciences 2014 Vol. 4 (S4), pp. 3886-3893).

OUR Customised PROGRAMME
We use a heart-centred consulting approach, collect relevant data, and design a longer term engagement working at individual and group levels, with the involvement of C-suite leaders.
We work on a range of issues including service-centred leadership development, employee happiness and wellbeing, team relationships and communication, strengths-based working, supporting staff to cultivate socio-emotional intelligence and creating a positive, caring, psychologically safe work culture where people are growing to become better versions of themselves.
An organisation need not be in an unhealthy state to benefit from our work. We can move good to great and great to greater.
Alternatively, if there is a community/network/group that the nonprofit organises, we could support by strengthening meaningful connection within such groups for deeper impact.
Which non-profits do we seek to work with?
We have special resonance with organisations:
- (essential as of now) whose CEOs will be directly involved in this initiative. They are open, humble and receptive to self-development to deepen their service-centred leadership; and believe that how the work is done and who they and their staff become through the work is just as important as the work. We support peaceful, compassionate, wise means of working that support collective wellbeing and not only the wellbeing of beneficiaries or advancement of a cause. They also need to have the mental space and time to commit to this journey and implement what they find useful.
- working with parents, educators or children/youth to develop qualities related to inner wealth, especially love, service and growth and to enable children to have happy childhoods in which they feel unconditionally loved.
- working with vulnerable populations with little power and voice such as migrant workers and animals, especially animals used in industries, such as farm animals.
- working on mental health, environmental protection or peace at any level.
- promotion of plant-based diets which benefit animals, people and the planet.
- working on the roots/deeper causes and not only symptoms of problems mentioned above to enable deep, durable transformation.
Your funds will go towards the non-profit directly.
WHY US?
Testimonials
Leadership workload and rushing deadlines can often make us short-sighted to the delicate inner workings of us, humans. While numerous leadership tips address bravely fighting fires, I rarely came across any encouragement to commit time and mental space to create a firesafe space.
Vadivu’s leadership coaching has set in motion a dynamic harmony within me, not only to grow as a person, but foster better communication, listening, and decision-making with care and confidence…to contribute to a stronger and sustainable animal protection movement."
“Vadivu’s empathetic approach and ability to inspire a person - to think creatively and clearly - is a gift...
As the CEO for a non-profit, I often feel isolated, with no-one I can truly trust to share the challenges that I face daily. I found it difficult to enable my personal development when dealing with issues - both at work and in my personal life.
But, working with Vadivu has always managed to inspire me and give me the strength to crystallise my thoughts."
With her kind acceptance, listening skills and gentle encouragement, it is no wonder that Vadivu can bring out the best in the people she is conversing with."
“Being in the social sector, majority of my time is spent on external acts of service and rarely do I spend time focusing on my inner self…. When I took up different leadership roles, I started to unconsciously follow the paths laid out for me, even though it went against my own values, so that I ‘functioned well’ as a leader. Evidently that resulted in me losing my sense of self and developing negative habits that had detrimental effects, even on my health.
Vadivu helped me realise that much of my negativities were closely knitted to deep-seated issues that I had repressed for long…my inner self led me to connect dots that desperately wanted to connect and this led to a lot of healing internally."
"Vadivu has helped me re-frame the way I was thinking about challenges as future possibilities. It is an exciting and thought-provoking process."
"Vadivu has great energy and this positively influences people she works with."
IMPORTANT - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please read carefully above (under the section “Which non-profits do we work with?”). You can suggest a non-profit which fits what we are looking for and we will sense the fit with the CEO. Or we may have a non-profit on our waitlist. Mutual chemistry with the non-profit leader is important. We trust that finding well-matched clients is important for the initiative to be successful and flow smoothly.
The needs assessment itself has costs involved and will be done after your approval of the costs. Then based on the data collected, we will have a clearer idea on what could be done and will present those costs for approval.
Unless it is a small, focused project, projects are likely to cost at least tens of thousands as this work is bespoke, focused, deep and we are aiming for long-term impact.
Family offices, philanthropic foundations, corporate philanthropic arms interested in thoughtful philanthropy for deep, sustainable impact are examples of those we can work with.
We will find greater resonance with organisations which
- while having accountability mechanisms in place, work with freedom and trust without overwhelming restrictions and protocols that prevent what is truly needed from being done or tie up everyone’s energy.
- come from genuine compassion. While we are happy to work with the non-profit to share updates, your motivating reason to support the non-profit would not be to improve public relations or other reasons which may skew the direction of the work away from what’s truly needed.
- seek a meaningful relationship with all parties that has openness, respect, equality, and potential for learning and growth for all.
- do not expect us to have ready non-profits to match you with. We have specific things we look out for when sensing who’d be a great match for this programme to be impactful. You may value the joy of discovering the kind of non-profits we seek to work with or patiently wait.
- appreciate that humans are complex and that change may not be immediate, quantifiable, linear or show direct causation to impact on beneficiaries. There is patience and trust that we all do our best, and grow in the process. And an appreciation of qualitative data to illustrate changes.
We work with one sponsor for one project to keep things simple and manageable for all.
The duration depends on the need. Some projects may take up to a year or more. Some may need something shorter.
We do welcome non-profits to pay for our services and if they are regular rate paying clients, and we don’t need to look for sponsors, the work can start faster.
For others who have not had direct experience of the kind of work we do and may be unfamiliar with it, co-payment may be more challenging. It may get buried and lost among their heavy workload.
We are doing our best to see what will work for all, and also strive to learn through the process. We may revise things as we go along.
- If you are keen to support deep personal transformation for senior/rising leaders of non-profits who are open to our Inner Billionaire Legacy programme, that is another option. When the senior leader clears inner blocks and shifts deeply, the effects can be powerfully felt at all levels and on the beneficiaries/cause. Quantum leaps can happen and we believe social movements can benefit from this, given all the challenges they face. The inner potential of humans is unlimited and can be unleashed.
- If Inner Billionaire Legacy is of interest to you, yourself, that is another possibility. Your own growth can enable you to be of even greater service and find greater meaning and fulfilment.
- You can improve your own organisational practices so they result in more good and less harm to all life – human, animal, environment. That may actually prevent or reduce some of the problems non-profits are trying to heal in our world.
- We are a purpose-driven company which was started to reduce suffering and enhance quality of life for all, including the most vulnerable. We actively promote values such as compassion. If your organisation can benefit from our other offerings, you’re welcome to book us and join our movement as clients who vote for pro-social values with their dollar.
- If you’re interested in having our work for you sponsored by our contacts, and if you see any notices we put out for non-profits to contact us on our social media or elsewhere, please do.
- If your nonprofit seeks to be a regular-rate paying client, you are free to contact us anytime.
- Our Director runs two two-day leadership programmes for those in the social service sector in Singapore through the National University of Singapore Department of Social Work. You are free to contact us if you’re interested in learning more in view of bringing those in-house for a minimum of 14 participants.
