My Luxury Wallet

I’ve had my leather-free, environmentally-friendly, toxin-free wallet since 2017. I love the embroidery. It’s a work of heart and art. And despite me dropping it into my handbag without care, it has lasted so amazingly.

The clasp tore but that’s me, not the wallet. Too many coins etc. Just when I was about to leave my friend, Debbie’s house after making a piece of art with her, I showed her my wallet, cooing over its beauty and lamenting its soon-to-be demise as it started to look too raggedy with the torn clasp. Debbie grabbed her needle and thread and started to mend it!

So now, it’s got these asymmetrical stitches which I find so beautiful.  I value things done with love, and the imperfection of hand-made things. The fact that she is a migrant worker advocate who has dedicated many years to social justice makes my wallet priceless.

Now, that’s a true luxury wallet to me.

Luxury is love stitched in as many ways as possible into something.

Debbie serves through TWC2.
